Reputation & ranks¶
Kwitka helps grow a living community, not just remove spam. Active and helpful members accumulate reputation and climb through ranks; offenders receive warnings.
How it works¶
A member earns reputation for useful activity in the chat. As it grows, the rank changes automatically. The rank is shown as the member’s title right in the group — a visible sign of their contribution.

A visible title-rank is assigned from 5 points of reputation. Before that a member has the starting “Observer” rank without a title.

Reputation affects the weight of reports
The higher a member’s reputation, the more weight their report (/report)
about spam carries — trusted members help moderate more accurately.
Warnings¶
For soft moderation there is a warnings system: an admin issues a warning, the history is kept, and reaching a threshold can trigger a restriction.

Trust¶
Verified members can be granted trusted status (/trust) — so automatic checks
do not bother them.
Honorary admins & content filters¶
When the reputation system is enabled, members with a custom honorary title (e.g. “volunteer”) but no real moderation rights are treated as regular members by default — so their posts go through the same checks.
In /settings → Reputation there is an “Immunity for honorary admins” choice:
- Off — treated as regular members (default).
- All honorary admins — any custom title grants immunity to content filters.
- Only “Volunteer” — immunity only for those whose title is “volunteer” (recognized in many languages).
Immunity applies to content filters only (e.g. posting payment details/cards); it does not grant access to admin commands (ban, mute).
Can rank-holders bypass the filters?
When the bot assigns a rank (rep≥5) it makes the member an administrator with a title but WITHOUT the right to delete messages. Immunity to content filters is decided exactly by the delete-messages right — that is how real moderators are told apart from honorary ones (title only).
- “Off” (default) or “Volunteer” → rank-holders are not immune; their card numbers/stop-words are checked like everyone's.
- “Admin title”/“Any title” → immunity is granted to any title, including ranks. To immunize only volunteers, pick “Volunteer”.
Immunity never grants access to commands (ban/mute) — it is only a content-filter exemption.
Ranks and levels — the difference¶
These are two separate axes, easy to confuse:
- 🏅 Rank (Observer/Helper…) — for reputation: when others thank you (reply to a message:
thanks,+orrep). Shown as a green title (from 5 points) and in/top rep. - ⏫ Level (
lvl.N) — for activity (message count):lvl.1=10,lvl.2=30,lvl.3=60. Shown in/top active.
In short: level = how much you talk, rank = how much you're valued. So an active member may be lvl.1 but rank “Observer” (few thanks), and vice versa.
Custom ranks (names + thresholds) (/settings → Reputation): define your own ladder with threshold=name lines — both the thresholds and the names are yours. E.g. 0=Observer, 20=Helper, 50=Experienced, 100=Active. The rung with the highest threshold ≤ your reputation applies.
Grey tags: the bot can give active members without a rank a grey lvl.N tag (without making them admins) — this needs the “Manage tags” right.
Who appears on the /top board¶
/settings → Reputation → “🏅 Who's on the /top board” controls who shows in the public /top (both ranks and levels):
- Except owner & admins (default) — only regular members compete; the owner and real admins (with delete/restrict rights) are hidden from the public board.
- Except owner — admins stay on the board, only the owner is hidden.
- Everyone — all are shown.
Honorary admins (a title badge only, no delete rights) always stay on the board — they are regular members. Excluded users still see their own /myrep and /rank.
